For the time being we are at a base away from home for Brett to do some training. Many have told us to enjoy this time before things get a little crazy when his initial pilot training starts. They allow spouses to come and for our stay we are placed in a one-bedroom hotel for six weeks. I have made my own daily routine as best possible while Brett goes to class to keep sane- it has consisted largely of reading, working out, and creative ideas for cooking in our minimal space kitchen. Week four- one month in- and it has begun to wear on me a bit. Just think... you can't leave the room to simply go do something else, if one person wants to watch TV you might as well both be (so you can imagine that since we don't have cable at home Brett is loving his ESPN and I am getting my fill of it too!) it's a whole other level of intimacy! The peace has been kept in the midst of these close quarters and it hasn't been all that bad.
When there's not a lot to do we have found ourselves just enjoying each other and sitting together. So those one-room houses our grandparents might be familiar with must have brought a few more family experiences and closeness that our mansions of houses have now afforded us. I think I'll still take the house and the closeness.
